The Runescape Old School provides its players with a lot of ways of making a profit. These methods range from standard item farming activities present in all MMORPGs, to more unique, and creative ones, like Grand Exchange flipping or converting items. The requirements and profitability of these moneymaking activities differ greatly, and there are a lot of methods with low requirements, that will still net you a lot of Gold per hour. Though you can buy pieces, it requires real money and not everyone is interested in investing in in-game currency via online gaming marketplaces. So we are going to reveal straightforward methods using which you can make Gold in the Old school Runescape game.
Mining Iron Ore
The first OSRS F2P money making method we will be listing is the iconic method of mining iron ore. Mining iron ore is one of the best money-makers for a free-to-play player. Not only will you gain a vast amount of gold, but you will also gain around 20,000 experience in mining per hour.
To do this method, you will need a rune pickaxe for maximum efficiency, with at least level 40 mining. The best locations are Varrock East and Varrock West, however, this may be crowded with bots on many worlds (dependent on time of day). To combat this, you can visit the Al Kharid mine, despite the higher walking distance to the bank.
The more you do this method, the more you will make, as you will be better at mining (with higher levels). Switching to other ores are possible but can be troublesome due to banking locations. As you are walking with lots of weight, this is a considerable strain on your hour and reduces profitability. Runite Ore is far better but requires 85 mining – something most players do not have. The time investment to 85 mining far surpasses simply mining Iron Ore and getting your all wanted bond.
Killing Green Dragons
Fighting Green Dragons can make you up to around 400k an hour and is a good way for members and non-members to train their combat skills. Green Dragons have a 100% chance to drop both Dragon Bones and a Green Dragonhide. Dragon Bones will net you a few thousand per bone. Green Dragonhides are always in high demand for Crafting. The dragons will also occasionally drop valuable runes and Rune items that you can sell. The most convenient location to fight Green Dragons is in level 9-11 Wilderness, Northwest of Edgeville. Don't forget to take teleport runes or a teleport tab with you when you go - PKers routinely stalk this area, so you'll want to have access to a quick escape if necessary. You'll need an Anti-dragon shield, which you can usually buy cheap from the Grand Exchange. Green Dragons are combat level 79. They are weak to stab and Ranged, so it's recommended to use a Ranged weapon or a melee weapon with a high stab bonus, like a scimitar, an Abyssal Whip, or an Abyssal Dagger. If your Defence level is 70 or below, wear plate armor. If it is above 70, you can wear Dragonhide.
Killing Ogress Shamans
The ogresses will only attack you with magic. As long as you are five squares away, their magic attacks will not reach you, so you can safe spot them. In addition, they have half the ranged defense compared to magic defense. Using range is recommended, and you will also level your range, and have fun actually being able to kill monsters which is more gratifying than mining rocks. The cost of arrows will limit your profitability, but you can expect to make at least 50k per hour and 100k if you receive good drops, all whilst levelling your range.
Does this sound too obvious? In an echo of real-life, gold ore is sought after in Gielinor for many of the same reasons that we like it in real life. It can be used to make jewelry and train in the Smithing skill, so you can sell it to others grinding their level up or use it yourself to make shiny bobbles to sell for profit. You only need a level 40 Mining and Crafting to take advantage of this method, and the best place to find ore are in either dangerous areas or locations limited to Membership accounts. Finishing a couple of optional quests will give you access to a certain mine and a discount for a vendor in that location.
Try fishing OSRS-fishing
From a money point of view, fishing is a bit like mining. The main difference is that you don’t have to move to another location to increase the value of your product. Instead, the items you get already have a value set. While it may take a while to reach the level where you are allowed to fish for the types of items that offer the highest profits, it is usually worth it.
Look in the bulk sale
A great way to Make OSRS Money is through wholesale. If you’re willing to go through the effort of building up a bulk set of almost anything, you can almost always find a buyer. Whatever the item, you usually won’t have a hard time finding someone who wants a lot but doesn’t want to spend the time and effort to get them on their own. For this reason, you can usually add a generous profit margin for yourself when selling items in bulk. The only thing to keep in mind is that people will naturally want to negotiate a bit on the price when buying wholesale. Make sure you know exactly how much you can lower your price without losing so you don’t undercut yourself during negotiations.
Try to return items
